One of the things that makes Stowe a unique destination is it is truly a mountain environment. Vermont’s highest peak is not afraid to challenge you with it’s weather while you are out trying to enjoy it’s splendor.
Here’s some of our favorite items to enjoy a day on the slopes.
Arc’Teryx Kappa Hoody
Whether Down or Synthetic, a puffy jacket is a good friend on a cold day. Make sure to pick one with a durable outer shell for those days you duck into the woods. If it’s cold enough to wear a puffy, you probably don’t need Gore-Tex, so save your money for elsewhere. Handy phone pocket for when that great photo presents itself.
Find Arc’Teryx at AJ’s Ski & Sports
Burton Analog Zenith Gore 2L Pant
A pair of good Gore-Tex 2L (Two-Layer) pants are must haves. Gore-Tex helps keep a wet chairlift at bay, while the extra mesh hung lining keeps the drafts away. These also have a wallet pocket, which for some reason a bunch of brands skip ~we keep our season pass in our wallet, so we always have it.
Find Burton at Darkside Snowboards, Pinnacle Ski & Sports, AJs Ski & Sports
LL Bean Fleece Shirt
The LL Bean Fleece Flannel shirt is functional as a layering piece but you can also head to the Bench or Piecasso for dinner and not feel out of place.

Rome Authentic Mitts
The warmest gloves? Mittens. With mittens your whole hand shares the warmth. These aren’t the thickest mittens, which adds some versatility for warmer days, but what we love about these is how easy on & off they are when you do need some extra dexterity.

Patagonia Thermal Weight Bottoms
Under our shell pants we wear Thermal-Weight Capilene bottoms from Patagonia for a great combination of wicking & insulation

Turtle Fur Merino TecnoWool Neck Tube
A merino neck tube is warm and cozy on the face, while protecting against the elements. The merino fabric allows it to be thinner and less bulky around his neck.

Dermatone Protection Stick
For the coldest days, Dermatone on your face helps protect your skin long-term from windchill. It’s also sunscreen for those sunny days.
Find Dermatone at Pinnacle Ski & Sports
Oakley Splice HI Yellow Goggles
Oakley’s High Intensity Yellow lens was designed for the low light conditions we regularly experience in Stowe. Mirrored lenses may look cool, but they only come out a few days a year in Stowe.

Stowe Mountain Bike Club Tech Tee
A Tech Tee is the perfect first layer. They help get the sweat off your core no matter the temps. So while any Tech Tee will work, why not grab one that supports Mountain Bike Trails in Stowe
Available direct from the Stowe Mountain Bike Club
Darn Tough Ultra-Light Merino Socks
Merino Wool Socks from Darn Tough keep the toes cozy, while their ultra-light thickness keeps your boots comfy.

North Face Apex Softshell Vest
We bring our softshell vest with us everytime we go to the mountain. We don’t always wear it, but if we misjudge the temp it’s a quick piece to throw on to add some warmth to your core
