The Raid Lamoille routes were created way back in 2012 by the fertile minds at LOCO Cycling as a friendly ride to share with our friends. Originally a 50K loop, the route was extended to include more – more gravel, more climbing, more suffering! What does that mean? More stories to share at ride’s end!
The 2014 inaugural ride was a smash hit – fantastic weather, a hearty group of riders and an incredible after party… and they are shooting to make 2015 even better. This is one ride you won’t want to miss!
The Raid Lamoille route is approximately 100K (60+ miles) , mostly gravel roads through the stunning Vermont countryside and will include nearly 6,000 feet of climbing. Yeah, it’s hard. But the decision is easy, you gotta put some gravel in your travel!
Raid – Our definition? A raid is a challenging route that includes a significant amount of packed-gravel riding and some major climbing segments. Some would call it a dirt road randonee, others a gravel grinder, we just call it a Raid. This is not a race. A properly prepared rider and bike of most any type can do this.
The Raid Lamoille crew recommends a cyclocross bike if you have it or a wider tire suited to gravel roads on your road bike. “Scrubbed” cue sheets will be handed out at the event. The route may have arrows at critical intersections too.
The 2015 Stowe Wine and Food Classic continues it’s strong tradition of celebrating all the wonderful culinary gems and libations this State has to offer. They have an exciting new lineup of events this year including a Spanish Farm to Table Gala Dinner on Saturday night featuring the wines from Cune Rioja.
It’s all a fundraiser with proceeds going towards refurbishing Copley Hospital’s Chemotherapy/Infusion Suites – a facility that provides over 2,000 infusion services annually. Continue reading Stowe Wine & Food Classic at Trapp’s
