The Stowe 8-Miler is a classic summer race now in its 33rd year. Vermonters and runners from all over the US and Canada return year after year to Stowe for this historic event. As beautiful as ever, this eight mile single-loop course is rolling with some flat sections, all of which takes runners through the beautiful Vermont countryside and then through the heart of downtown Stowe.
In addition to the classic 8 mile race there is an additional 5K race with individual age groups.
After the race, take a short walk up the Rec Path to the Rusty Nail and join the celebration! The famous after race party features cold Smuttynose craft-brewed beer and hand-scooped Island Home made ice cream!
What is the 8 mile course like?
With a backdrop of Mount Mansfield and the Stowe countryside what could be prettier? The course itself is a beautiful, rural 8 mile single-loop. It’s a rolling course with flat sections that ambles through the beautiful Vermont countryside then takes you through the heart of downtown Stowe. Great views of mountains, fields and country roads abound. For 2013 the course is the same as the last three years. The race starts inside the recreation fields (on Weeks Hill Road); the finish will be on the left hand side of Rt. 108 (the Mountain Road) in front of the Golden Eagle Resort.
